I am Barbara Platt Miller, a songwriter and storyteller who turns life’s challenges into music that heals and inspires.
Music has always been in my life, but it wasn’t until the late 1980s that I discovered its transformative powers. I began writing songs drawn from my personal experiences. What started out as a way to cope with change grew into a lifelong creative passion. Songwriting became my voice, my therapy, and a way to connect with others through authentic stories and melodies.
Born in 1962 in West Milford, New Jersey, I was soon diagnosed with Usher syndrome. As I matured, I began to understand its implications for my future life, but these obstacles have not discouraged me from pursuing an active lifestyle, from snow skiing, horseback riding and team sports in school, to becoming an aerobics instructor, personal trainer, and lover of outdoor sports such as adventure racing.
I’ve embraced every chapter of my journey with resilience and optimism. I’m a proud mother of two amazing children who are now married to wonderful partners. They have given me four incredible grandchildren who bring me endless joy.
